April's Favorites — Wellness Edition
Water Retention & Hormonal Imbalance — Back To What Works
April had a clear theme: going back to basics and supporting a body that has been navigating hormonal imbalances and sustained stress for a few months now. This Selection doesn’t have the most glamorous focus, but each of these products complemented what I was already doing to address it. They genuinely help with issues that are very common to women, and are worth your attention.
Aime, Digestion & Anti-Bloat Supplement, GUT FLOW™: is one of those unglamorous products until you realize how much it affects everything else: energy, skin, mood and more. This supplement has been part of my routine for months now, and I take it on a need-basis, depending on where I am in my cycle, if I’m going to eat food I don’t usually eat, or if I’m particularly stressed.
Holidermie, Body Gua Sha: The body gua sha is still underrated compared to its facial counterpart, and I don’t understand why. This one from Holidermie works beautifully on legs and arms and will leave you feeling light and relaxed. Perfect for drainage and circulation, especially after sitting all day or after a workout.
Juvasanté, Tisane Hibiscus: At this point, you probably understood that the main theme of this Selection is drainage and circulation. These two are my current focus points as my body is still readjusting after quitting the pill — will share more about this topic soon — and the physical discomfort was real. Hibiscus supports circulation and brings a tartness that feels more interesting than most herbal teas. Organic and simple, don’t forget to drink plenty of water alongside.
Aime, The Scalp Massage Brush: Scalp health is having its moment, and for good reason, it’s essentially skincare for your hair. Us women are well aware that any change will have an impact on our hair, whether it’s stress or hormone-related, or any micronutrient deficiency. I’m going to be honest: the first time I heard about scalp brushes I rolled my eyes and thought this was another wellness scam. I actually received this brush as a gift in an order and decided to give it a try. Needless to say, I was genuinely surprized. After only a couple weeks, my scalp is healthier, less greasy (glamorous, I told you) and my hair grows better. Which makes sense because it stimulates blood circulation and removes dead skin cells. I use it in the shower at every wash for about 3 to 5 minutes, using gentle circular movements.
Clarins, Huile Anti-Eau: Drainage being my main preoccupation at the moment, I decided (skeptically) to give this iconic product a try, to facilitate my hand and body gua sha massages. Well, this oil works. On texture, on tone, on dryness. Definitely worth the hype.
Avène, Cicalfate+: The most unsexy product on this list and possibly the most useful. If you’ve been raised in France, you know why: it’s basically what bread and red wine are in the kitchen, but for the bathroom. Perfect for scars and dry hands.
La Bonne Brosse, N.01 The Shine & Care HairBrush, The Universal: A genuinely beautiful object that also happens to work exceptionally well. Perfect for thin hair lacking volume, the fibres of this hairbrush are made of 100% keratin and help reinforce your hair fibres.
Sunday Natural, Magnésium Bisglycinate: Magnesium is probably the supplement I recommend most consistently, and the bisglycinate form is particularly relevant if you’re a bit drained. It’s the most bioavailable and the gentlest on digestion and it supports the nervous system, relaxation, energy metabolism and muscle function. Vegan and non-GMO.
Manucurist, S.O.S Nail Strengthener: Nail care sits at the intersection of beauty and wellness and doesn’t get enough credit. I had a little iron deficiency in Winter that was causing my nails to break, and used this treatment in addition to treating the root cause, it worked wonders.
